Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh and Shri. Anil Srinivasan will present “The Stringmasters” – a collaboration at Jagriti Theatre, Bangalore on 1st February, 2020 at 6:30 pm. Joining them are Shri. Giridhar Udupa on Ghatam and Shri. Pramath Kiran on Tabla and Morching. 

The Stringmasters is a tribute to the design of the piano and the veena and a celebration of bringing together these two diverse and intertwined instruments together. The Stringmasters presents the beauty of finding common spaces between the two genres – Indian classical and Western classical -as well as showcasing each of the journeys that the instruments (veena and the piano) have taken in their respective traditions and with respect to other traditions. 

Through this collaboration, Anil Srinivasan and Jayanthi Kumaresh aim to explore the design of two evolving instruments – the piano and the veena. The design of sound, the design of music in bringing out the best of genres together and the design of history in the way the artistic and literary traditions of the instruments are interpreted will be the central theme of the performance.
